Spectre x360 13 ac033dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Whenever I plug a USB C memory stick, external hard drive or hub (usb 3.0, hdmi port, SD card reader), my laptop wont recognize it the first time. I unplug it, plug it back in and then my laptop will recognize the device. This will happen after powering up, restart or suspension.

Sometimes it happens the same with Thunderbolt 3 docks.

I already reinstalled  latest drivers and BIOS is up to date. Anyone with the same issue and solved the problem?

Thanks!

That is unusual.

Did this issue start showing itself after a recent driver or operating system update?

Not really. I had this problem before and I tried installing windows 10 from scratch, and then installing drivers to see if there was an issue with my OS, but after the reinstall I still have the same issue.

Did you perform the reinstall by way of the USB recovery flashdrive created with the HP Recovery Manager?

Are you able to invoke the HP PC Hardware Diagnostic utility and use it to test the USB ports?

If not, you can download it from the official HP Hardware Diagnostics web page and install it. See the link below this line.

I installed Windows 10 with a bootable USB drive using the Microsfoft MediaCreationTool1809, but I haven't tried the HP PC Hardware Diagnostic utility. Will try it later and will let you know if I find anything.

I installed the utility but couldn't find anything about USB test. I ran the general test anyway, showing no problem whatsoever.

I ran the UEFI version, and found this code on both of USB C Ports. I ran the same test with the regular USB and it didnt show anything wrong on that one. Hopefully it could be fixed with a setting in the BIOS because they do work, and at full speed, not at first time of connection, tho.

Unfortunately, I am unable to translate the fail code.

It is something that HP Service Engineers can help you with.

Is your notebook still in warranty?
