HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg0000 (9WF74AV)

I have a HP Pavilion 15  - Model 15eg0021nr.  it has a USB-c port with the thunderbolt symbol. Trying to find-out if this port can be used as an alternative battery charging port for the integral laptop battery.

Hi,

It is not a Thunderbolt port (the symbol is very similar)

1 USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (USB Power Delivery, DisplayPort™ 1.4, HP Sleep and Charge); 2 USB Type-A 5Gbps signaling rate; 1 AC smart pin; 1 HDMI 2.0; 1 headphone/microphone combo

or on page 6 of service manual

USB Type-C®
SuperSpeed port with HP Sleepand Charge
Connects a USB device, provides high-speed data transfer, and charges small devices, even when the computer is off
– and –
Connects a display device that has a USB Type-C connector, providing DisplayPort™ output.
NOTE: Cables, adapters, or both (purchased separately) might be required.

So it can be powered by a USB-C power adapter

Hope it helps,

David
