Just confirming. I have the Plugable UD-ULTCDL with my 2016 Spectre 13", 13-W0XXX.
Hooked up the following:
- Gigabit Ethernet
- Logitech wireless USB mouse/keyboard combo
- Logitech 2.1 Speakers
- Two Auria 27" 2560 x 1440 monitors. One at 60hz and 2nd one at 50hz (plugable Displaylink limitation).
This charges my X360 also.
I turned off sleep when closing the lid of my X360. I do have to open the lid to power on my X360.
I also discovered that having the scaling on my external monitors the same as the built-in display seems to work better. Sometimes changing displays on the fly doesn't work well, if scaling is different.
Also, I am using Windows 10 Creators update version with Displaylink 8.2 drivers.

The saga gets worse. The Spectre BL0020 X360 at least doesnt even work with HP USB-C docks! By the way both these docks were recommended by HP Pre Sales!
HP USB-C Dock (Y0K80AA) This device causes laptop to flash a warning that power to the laptop is inadequate then blacks out the monitor completely till the device is disconnected and the laptop rebooted. The "helpful" presales techy#2 said oh no - we are sorry but that is incompatible but this next one will work! RMA and on the device 2.
HP Elite USB-C Dock (Z9R42UT)
This device powers the laptop (or so it seems) on the basis that the screen brightens and the Taskbar shows the appropriate icon however the signals dont go the other way to display on the HDMI connected monitor. Audio signal doesnt get to the audio jack although I did manage to get a USB printer out to print - once, then stopped!
How can HP advertise a USB-C powered laptop and then not offer (by the look of things here) a clear USB-C dock?
My computer is less than a month old and I am seriosly considering sending it back and getting the newly announced version out June 1. Maybe if enough of us do this we can get HP to notice and fix whatever they need to fix.

I've been using Dodocool 7 in one USB hub from Aliexpress with my HP Spectre 13-2 laptop. It works like a charm, even pass-through charges the laptop.
But when it is connected the laptop is heats up and the fan spins almost all the time. Without it latop cools down and the fan almost never goes off. CPU load (by Task Manager) is between 1-2 %, regardless the hub connected or not.
Does enyone has such experience with hubs?

Hi and thanks for this. I bought that Hub and it works almost perfectly. I have to use Remote Desktop for work and whenever I'm connected to remote desktop, it frequently freezes and seems to get confused. The pc will make that connect/disconnect tone and it blinks and comes back. Sometimes it does this 2 or 3 times before it's back. It does it a LOT. I was wondering if you had the same problem and/or if you use RDP.
Is anybody else having this issue? is there a solution?
Thanks, Ken

I didn't update my post, but I ended up returning the plugable USB-C dock a while back. It actually worked fine, but then I got a 4k monitor. The plugable USB-C dock would only do 4k UHD display at 30hz.
I ended up getting one of these:
http://www8.hp.com/us/en/workstations/zbook-dock.html
They seem to make them with different wattage AC adapters. For the model I have 13.3 Spectre (2016), the 65w model works fine.
Power button doesn't work on the dock, but everything else does. Using it with a displayport cable to an Acer 43" 4k monitor.
I did update all the firmware on the Zbook Dock before using it and the firmware and drivers on my notebook.
This device uses Thunderbolt, so theoretically should have faster throughput if you have multiple devices hooked up.

Has anyone been able to get a Thunderbolt 3 dock to work with the new 15in Spectre (late 2017 version)? I just picked one up with the new 8th Gen Intel CPU, and my Belkin Thunderbolt dock, which works fine with my Lenovo and MacBook, won't charge the Spectre at all, and I get the standard error message "For ful performance, connect a higher capacity power adapter."
I understand the 15in has a 90w power adapter, and most of these docks only output 85w, but HP has done the wrong thing here by completly blocking the charing function via DRM. I honestly didn't think I would have this much of an issue with a "Universal" standard like USB-C. Hoping I can find solution, or this laptop is going back to the retailer, and I will just go back to my Lenovo which works fine on my dock, both charging and outputting to 2 displays. If anyone has found a better option, I would love to hear about it.
