I am an ICT specialist at various primary schools in the Netherlands. At 1 school we have problems with 10 new chromebooks 11 G9. When connecting to the adapter, smoke came out of the port and the USB-c port burned out. The new chromebook is no longer usable. Because the school uses different chromebooks, there are also a number of different adapters in the charging cabinet. The supplier now indicates that there is no warranty because a Dell adapter may have been used. But at all 23 other schools this has never caused any problems. USB-C should always work properly, right?
The charging box has been checked, there is nothing wrong with that.
What is striking is that there are 10 HP chromebook 11MK G9 among them, no other school has these. Could it be related to this? I hope someone recognizes the problem and can give some tips. The school now has a big problem due to too few chromebooks and no money to buy new ones.
