Will the HP USB-C to HDMI 2.0 Dongle work with this laptop?
I was looking for a laptop with a 17-inch screen and a mid-range video card that I can connect 2 additional displays to, and the HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop - 17t-cd100 seems like a good option:
https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-pavilion-gaming-laptop-17t-cd100-8ww21av-1
The specs say "SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 10Gbps signaling rate (DisplayPort™ 1.4)" and in the section about the USB-C port the manual says "Connects a display device that has a USB Type-C connector, providing DisplayPort output" so it sounds like it should work with the USB-C to HDMI adapter (https://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-usb-c-to-hdmi-20).
But I'd just like some confirmation from someone else because the requirements for video over USB-C are more confusing than I expected.
UPDATE: I can confirm that the HP USB-C to HDMI adapter (HP P/N: 932776-001 / SPS P/N:935325-001) does work with this laptop. An AVOTCH USB-C hub with HDMI also works. I'm guessing that most USB-C to HDMI adapters will work with any HP laptop that mentions DisplayPort in the USB-C specs. But that's just a guess.
However, there's some kind of overscan issue where about 30 pixels of each edge of the screen are cut off on the display connected to the USB-C to HDMI adapter. The built in HDMI port does not have this problem. But this is fixable through the Nvidia Control Panel > Display > Adjust desktop size and position.

It should in theory but the chance is 50/50. Please do not use USB-C - HDMI, but use USB-C to DP cable.
Regards.

Thanks for your reply. I can't find a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter on HP's store. There are several on Amazon, but most of them say they require that the device supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, and the specs for the laptop I'm looking at only seem to mention DisplayPort 1.4, but not DisplayPort Alt Mode. Maybe HP just doesn't use that terminology?
Any idea if these will work?
