Hi everyone,

I just bought a Comsol USB-C to HDMI adaptor for my laptop and 2 new monitors, but it does not extend my desktop. The monitors are always in stand-by mode. I googled and found that the USB-C port needs to support DP alt mode but I am not sure how to do that ? Can someone help me.

Secondly, if my laptop does not have the DP alt port then what are my options to extend the 2 new monitors using HDMI ?

Thanks

What  is your machine ? It could be one of the following around 60 models/products

            https://support.hp.com/au-en/product/product-specs/hp-laptop-pc-15-dw3000/model/2100000420

For example:      HP Laptop 15-dw3069nx

They have SAME ports as your machine, it has a hopeless 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port

which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine,
  • Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter

If you wish to connect 2 external monitors, you can use

  • Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
  • Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as

                                     USB to HDMI Adapter

One option :         https://www.australiancomputertraders.com.au/hp-3005pr-usb-3.0-port-replicator-docking-station?srslt...
