I recently bought an HP 15-ef2126wm laptop and I'd like to connect my new laptop to a docking station via the USB C port to use external monitors that are connected to the dock via HDMI and VGA cables.
The whole reason I purchased this laptop was for the USB C port, which I thought would work for this purpose. the docking station that I am using is a dell WD-15, I saw in other questions that it may be because It ONLY has 1 SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter
however, I do have an adaptor to switch from a USB C to a regular USB will that help me with the monitor/docking situation?

I'm afraid, no. type C is just a port form-factor.
But different protocols might run through it. Such as Thunderbolt (3 and 4) or Alternate mode (DisplayPort) or PowerDelivery. If your type C has that functionality, it'll have relevant icon nearby (google for thunderbolt icon and DisplayPort icon or PowerDelivery).
