Hi @snv77,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your USB fast charging port on your HP Victus 16 laptop was working fine previously but has suddenly stopped supporting fast charging, there are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Check the Power Source:
- Ensure that your laptop is connected to a power source and is charging.
- Some laptops may disable fast charging when running on battery power to conserve energy.
Verify Fast Charging Settings:
- Check the power settings on your laptop to ensure that fast charging is still enabled. You can usually find these settings in the control panel or power management settings.
Update USB Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupt USB drivers can cause charging issues. Check for and install any available updates for your USB drivers. Click Here
Restart Your Laptop:
- Sometimes, a simple restart can solve connectivity issues. Restart your laptop and see if the fast charging capability is restored.
Use a Different USB Cable and Charger:
- Test the fast charging port with a different USB cable and charger to rule out any issues with the accessories. Sometimes, a faulty cable or charger can be the cause of the problem.
Check for System Updates:
- Ensure that your laptop's operating system is up to date. Sometimes, system updates include fixes for hardware-related issues.
Inspect the USB Port for Physical Damage:
- Examine the USB port on your laptop for any physical damage. If there are bent or broken pins, it might be causing connectivity problems.
Reset Power Management:
- Reset the power management settings on your laptop. You can do this by going into the device manager, finding the USB controller, and then uninstalling it. After that, restart your laptop, and the system will reinstall the USB controller with default settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @snv77,
Thank you for your response.
If you've tried all the steps mentioned earlier and your USB fast charging port still isn't working as expected, you may need to consider more advanced troubleshooting steps.
BIOS/UEFI Update:
- Check if there is a BIOS or UEFI firmware update available for your laptop. HP releases updates to address compatibility issues and improve hardware functionality.
Driver Rollback:Open Device Manager:
- Press the Windows key + X and select "Device Manager" from the menu that appears.
- In Device Manager, find and expand the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" category.
- Look for the USB controller associated with the USB port you're having issues with. It might be named something like "USB Root Hub" or "USB Host Controller."
- Open Properties: Right-click on the USB controller, and choose "Properties.
- Go to the Driver Tab:
- In the Properties window, go to the "Driver" tab.
- Roll Back Driver: If the "Roll Back Driver" option is available, click on it and follow the on-screen instructions. This will revert the driver to the previously installed version. If the "Roll Back Driver" option is grayed out or not available, it means that there is no previous driver version stored on your system, and you won't be able to roll back.
- Restart Your Laptop: After rolling back the driver, restart your laptop to apply the changes.
Hardware Diagnostics:
- Run hardware diagnostics provided by HP.
Factory Reset:
- Consider performing a factory reset on your laptop. This will revert the system to its original state, and if the issue is software-related, it might be resolved. Please make sure to back up your important data before proceeding.
