One night my USB ports(both usb 3.0 and type C) stopped working. They do not send power or receive data. I ran the uefi test tools and got the error code for usb ports. 9J5W02-AK9C49-MFPU3F-8D4T03. I can not find anything to help and fix this. Do I have to replace my motherboard? or are there other fixes.

Hi @mrfundude,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've done some troubleshooting already, which is great. The error code you received from the UEFI test tools indicates an issue with the USB ports. Here are a few additional steps you can try before considering replacing the motherboard.
- Update BIOS/UEFI: Ensure that your laptop's BIOS or UEFI firmware is up to date. Sometimes, HP releases updates that address hardware issues like this.
- Reset BIOS/UEFI settings: Try resetting your BIOS or UEFI settings to default. Sometimes, incorrect settings can cause hardware malfunctions.
- Check device drivers: Make sure that the drivers for your USB controllers are up to date. You can do this by going to Device Manager (on Windows), finding the USB controllers, and selecting "Update driver."
- Check for physical damage: Inspect the USB ports for any physical damage or debris that may be causing connectivity issues. If you find any, carefully clean the ports with compressed air or a soft brush.
- Try a different operating system: If possible, boot into a different operating system from a live USB or external drive to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is software-related.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
