I have a HP ZBook 15 G3 Mobile Workstation (Engery Star)- Product Number - V2W12UT#ABA.
There is one USB Port on the left side of the laptop and two on USB Ports on the right side plus two USB Type-C (Thunderbolt-enabled) ports on the right side.
The 3 USB ports say "SS" next to the ports. I know that means they are Super Speed but are the USB ports 2.0 or 3.0?

No gigabit ethernet is likely a little slower through any kind of USB bus since it has to do the translation so if you are going to use a hard wired ethernet connection, you would be best off to use the dedicated port on the laptop. We are talking about minute differences in any event and gigabit ethernet is capable of local transfers many times faster than the fastest internet connection so if you mean can you browse the internet faster, the answer is no.

Hello Again! Dave here with another issue on this Zbook Studio G3. SSD works great by the way. I noticed today that 2 of the 3 USB ports do not seem to work. This is layed out slightly differently than the Standard G3, in that 2 USB ports plus the ethernet connector are on the left, well a media card also, and everything else is on the right. In this case I mean the 3rd USB port. The USB port on the right works fine, but the 2 ports on the left do not. They did work initially but seem to have gone dead. Running W7 Pro 64 bit. Any ideas? Smells like a driver missing or not configured.
One thing that isnt right is that one of the many updates that the HP Support Assistant routine called for is a Realtek USB and Media card driver update (SP80267) which fails to install. Wondering if this is why? Might be that this driver takes care of the interface to the media card AND the USB ports on the left side?
