HP Pavilion x360 14 Convertible PC 14-dy0000 IDS Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

I always charge my hp Pavilion x360 through the USB-C port. One day, it stopped charging! I switched chargers and it was the same issue. The charging cord is successfully charging other computers so I know it's not an issue with the charging cord or supply. I've tried so much to try and fix it, but to no avail. It is worth noting that I did update the BIOS a day or two before this issue became apparent, but there does not seem to be a way to downgrade it to fix the issue.

Troubleshooting steps I've tried:

- updating the BIOS

- recovering the BIOS

- changing the BIOS USB-C charging settings (disabled and enabled, neither helps)

- resetting the embedded controller by holding down the power button for 30 seconds while the computer is powered down and all cords are disconnected (after doing this, when booting up the system again and plugging in my usb-C charger, the laptop charges for a brief moment, <1 second, before it stops charging again)

- updating all battery and USB-related drivers

- disabling all battery and USB-related drivers one at a time to see if any of them were causing the issue

- updating the system firmware driver

- uninstalling and reinstalling the system firmware driver

- disabling the system firmware driver to see if that would help (it didn't), then re-enabling it

- changed the power management settings for all the USB drivers to not allow them to be turned off to save power

- waited overnight with it totally unplugged to see if the problem would fix itself (it didn't)

- installed all the windows updates and all updates that hp support assistant suggested to me

I'm at my wit's end and would really appreciate some suggestions as to what to do next. It's really important to me to be able to charge through the USB-C charging port, as that is one of the primary reasons I purchased this laptop.

According to the Maintenance & Service guide, your laptop's model series was delivered with a power adapter that connects to the laptop with a connector plug to an AC smart pin on the laptop.

That is what you are supposed to use to charge the laptop.

Charging it with a 45-64W USB 3/2 Type-C power adapter plugged into the USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C (supports power delivery 3.0, data transfer, Display Port 1.4, HDMI 2.0 out, HP Sleep & Charge) port was not something guaranteed to work.

If you thought it was, that was a misconception.

Notice  in the manual under ports (Table 1-1, Page 2, Ch 1), there is an AC Smart Pin adapter plug that is meant to be used with the power adapter.
