Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Grateful for advice on how can I find out if any of the usb ports on my  HP Pavilion - 15-au119na will charge up my new mouse? The mouse doesn’t have batteries, just a re-charging cable with a usbc plug at one end to insert in the mouse and an ordinary usb plug at the other end to insert into the laptop?

I inserted it in a random usb port and it seemed to work for a day or so but when I repeated the action there was no charge. Is there something that I am omitting or missing? Thanks.

The specs of your machine is

           https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05363744

It does not have USB-C port at all. You can  connect to normal USB to charge your mouse using USB to USB-C cable. What is your mouse ? Normally you can use the first one on the following link

Thanks. You have confirmed that I did the right thing

"You can connect to normal USB to charge your mouse using USB to USB-C cable." That is what I did.

"What is your mouse ?"  A Logitech MX Master 3. The cable comes supplied.

I checked for power output from the USB ports and couldn't get any indication that they were powered. This is why I asked  if they were powered and if so how to access it.

Any further suggestions welcome, otherwise I'll continue in the knowledge that the power is there, I just have to find it.
