HP Omen
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

2 of the 3 usb ports have stopped working on the computer. I have completed a component test on all three. The 2 that fail both return the failure id: 9CU43F-8NG9LP-MFPX7A-8DM03. I have also tried updating drivers. Any help with the meaning of the failure id and what I should do to remedy the problem would be appreciated.

Hi:

The failure ID code checker is not going to provide much detail regarding the issue, but in order for me to let you know what the code is going to translate to, I need you to post the correct failure code.

They are generated in 4 groups of 6 characters, and your last set of characters is only 5.

My apologies. The corrected ID is 9CU43F-8NG9LP-MFPX7A-8D2M03. What would be more helpful with regard to the issue?

Hi:

This is the exact translation of the code...USB Failure (unspecified)

What I suggest you do would be to create the HP 4 in 1 diagnostics USB key, and see if it can provide you with additional information.

Below is the link to the service manual for your model series.

There is a procedure to remove and replace the USB board, so that is fairly good news...if it is a hardware issue, it may not involve replacing the entire motherboard.
