HP diagnostics is giving me this USB-port error, but only on one of my notebooks USB-ports:
I'm currently trying to install Linux on my notebook, but I'm facing a lot of problems, which only occurs when I attempt to boot from USB, and not from DVD (even though DVD-boot is giving me different problems). Also, I noticed today, when I was transferring something from my notebook to a USB-flashdrive (not using the failing USB-port), the transfer speed kept going up and down, up to about 24 MB/s, down to 0 byte/s, up to 24 MB/s again, down to 0 again and so on. I tried on both of the non-failing USB-ports, same thing happened on both. Is this normal, or is my USB interface in my laptop failing? And what can I do?

A warm welcome to HP Support Community!
Outdated driver's could cause fluctuations on data transfer speeds. Updating the system BIOS, Chipset, HDD and IDE Controllers may resolve the issue. You may use the steps available here to update the software and drivers.
