HP SPECTRE 15-CH011DX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone,

About a week and a half ago,  I purchased a Hp spectre x360 15" with model number CH011DX from Best Buy.

I used the USB port yesterday for the first time. It was a tight fit but it connected and worked just fine. However, upon pulling out the USB, i really had to FORCE it out. Now it has been a long time since i have bought a new laptop so i am wondering if maybe current generation laptops are being made with tighter fit usb ports or what.

I pulled out the USB and was able to. I tried a few times of taking it out and back in to see if it would loosen at all.

Each time, it made me worried that the tight fit would eventually crack something internally over time after many uses of using a usb port that tight.

Is it just because it is new and it needs some time to adjust to my usb cables being plugged in?

Or is it possible this is a defect?

Like i said, i am about to plug it in. Secure but very tight. It's the taking it out method where i really have to wiggle it around to make it come out.

I really do not want to go through the process of bringing it to Best Buy or sending it off to HP or anything.

But if this is a defect, then I will.

Should i give it more time to adjust?

Thanks.

Try a few different USB plugs in the socket in question. If they are all tight, you might have an issue with your HP computer (though it might just be the tight springs in a new socket; they do loosen up a little in use and USB 3 sockets are typically a bit tighter than older USB 2 ones). If just that one plug is tight, it is likely something weird with that particular plug.

Trying a single USB plug in the socket gives no basis to conclude where any problem might lie.
