Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am unable to insert my type a usb 3.0 data cable to the usb port in the laptop. On reading the specifications, I see the usb port in the laptop as 3.1
Does that mean the new usb 3.1 can't be used for 3.0 devices ?

It has 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A (Data Transfer Only) ports on the right hand side. These 2 ports accept normal USB 3.0 connectors

I tried to insert the normal samsung galaxy data cable in the 3.1 port, it didn't go through 

I have another hp laptop pro book 440 g3. The data cable is getting easily hooked into it. But not in this laptop usb ports
