None of my USB ports for this laptop are recognizing any device that I plug in. Only the USB-C works if I am charging and if I connect a dock to it via USB-C then any mouse or usb will work but not if I plug into laptop.
Any Help will be appreciated

Hi @Szars
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If none of your USB ports are recognizing devices, but the USB-C works when charging or with a dock, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
Restart Your Laptop: Sometimes a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues.
Check Device Manager:
- Right-click on the Start menu and select "Device Manager."
- Look for "Universal Serial Bus controllers" and expand the section.
- Check for any devices with a yellow exclamation mark, indicating issues. If you see any, right-click and select "Update driver" or "Uninstall device." If you uninstall, restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the drivers automatically.
Disable USB Selective Suspend:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options.
- Click on "Change plan settings" next to your active plan.
- Click on "Change advanced power settings."
- Expand "USB settings," then "USB selective suspend setting." Set it to "Disabled" for both "On battery" and "Plugged in."
- Apply the changes and restart your laptop.
Check BIOS Settings: Sometimes, USB ports can be disabled in the BIOS.
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI settings (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Delete during boot).
- Look for any settings related to USB and ensure they are enabled.
Run Hardware Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
- Select "Additional troubleshooters" and find the "Hardware and Devices" troubleshooter. Run it and follow any prompts.
Update Windows: Make sure your operating system is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates.
Check for External Factors: Ensure there are no physical obstructions in the USB ports, and try using different USB devices to rule out compatibility issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi @Szars,
Thank you for your response. If your USB ports are disabled in Windows 11, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
Check for Physical Issues:
- Ensure that the USB ports are not physically damaged.
- Try connecting different USB devices to see if the issue persists across all ports.
Restart Your Computer:
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.
Reset USB Ports via Command Prompt:
- Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
- Type set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 and press Enter.
- Type start devmgmt.msc and press Enter to open Device Manager.
- In Device Manager, click on View and select Show hidden devices. Look for any grayed-out USB devices and uninstall them.
Check Group Policy Settings (if applicable):
- If you are on a corporate or managed device, USB ports might be disabled via Group Policy. Contact your IT department if this is the case.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
