As I Understand USB ports are not working for your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

What is the product number of your device? Use this link to find it: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_2039298-1862169-16

(Ensure you do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc...).

When was the last time it worked? Have you attempted a system restore to fix the issue?

While you attempt a system restore or respond to that,

I have a list of steps to help resolve your concern:

  • USB device not detected by Windows 7 (no device name in Device Manager) - Possible power requirement issue
  • USB storage device is not shown in Safely Remove Hardware window of computers running Windows 7
  • USB 3.0 ports stop working after Texas Instruments XHCI controller update
  • Windows 7 freezes or data transfers fail when using a USB device
  • Error: Activation failure of BIOS USB
  • The front USB ports do not work on your desktop PC
  • You hear no audio from a newly connected USB audio device when using Windows Media Player 11
  • You hear no audio playback after you unplug a USB audio device

For details on each step: Click here

Let me know if those steps worked for you,

If they did, that's awesome!

Give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck
