15Z laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

How can I tell what type of USB ports I have? If I buy things like a printer, external SSD, or USB hub, what should I be looking for to ensure maximum compatibility? Does it even matter? You can probably tell I'm no power user.

The user guide just says that they're "USB Super Speed" but doesn't specify otherwise. Device Manager shows two lines each saying "AMD USB eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10 (Microsoft)" and two lines each saying "USB Root Hub (USB 3.0)".

@HarveyXSmith

There are few generations of machines called 15z?  What is yours ?  The following images show right and left size of the Pavilion 15z-ab0xxx series

left 15z.png

Ports with SS (Super Speed) are USB 3.0 and other USB port(s) is/are USB 2.0.

Regards.
