Try running complete diagnostics on it at boot and let me know.

Let me know what Watt the ac adapter is (it could be overheating?)

I was able to find the charger. The manufacturer is Nicpower and the input is 100-240v-1.2A 50-60Hz

Output: 19.5v (with these weird dashes in between) — 2.31A

I ran a hard drive diagnostic and the DST seems to have failed the test:

But now the system won’t even boot up, it’s running Windows 7 so it is stuck on the starting windows screen. So I won’t be able to check the temperature.

Hi @Anti_Zac

What I would do is get a new battery, if the ac only power connection is failing sometimes, the battery will keep the PC from turning off. The part number for the battery is 807956-001

https://www.amazon.com/s?k=807956-001&i=electronics&ref=nb_sb_noss_2

then you could get a cheap 120GB SSD

https://www.amazon.com/Kingston-120GB-Solid-SA400S37-120G/dp/B01N6JQS8C/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=120gb+a4...

Reinstall the OS on the SSD and see if the problem persists.

Hope it helps,

So I went back to my old laptop to see if I could get anything off of it, and I forgot about the hard drive failure so I ran another test. I got the same results as last time where the DST failed. So then I decided to try something new and let Repair and Recovery do it’s thing. It restored my laptop to a restore point and now it booted up and is completely functional again (Minus the battery still being dead). Has this fixed the issue, or is it going to fail again sometime in the future?

Hi,

I can not really say how long it will last, however most likely it will fail again. So, if you have important information on it, you should back it up to an external drive. As  said before you could insert a cheap SSD for less than 30$ and reinstall the OS on it.

Regards,

David
