Today, April 1 2025, my HP Envy 17.1 laptop that I've had for a total of 3 months, downloaded and installed a BIOS update. After the restart, the laptop stopped charging. In fact all of the USB ports (2 C and 1 A) on the right hand side stopped working. They don't recognize any devices plugged into them, including the charger. The only ports that do recognize devices are the 2 USB A ports on the left side of the laptop. I have no other way to charge the battery, and it's almost dead after trying to troubleshoot this. I currently have the PC powered off and I'm debating whether I have enough charge to attempt a BIOS downgrade via a USB stick in one of the working ports.
Windows 11 shows all USB devices that it can find are working properly, including 2 root hubs, 2 USB 3 host controllers, etc. Whatever is malfunctioning appears to be completely invisible to the OS. The laptop won't even charge when powered off, as indicated by the charging LED on that side. The HP charger actually works when I plug it into my Dell [work] laptop, so I don't think the charger went bad. The Dell charger does not work in either USB C port on my HP laptop, either. Nothing does.
At this point, I don't know what to do. The computer was a refurbished model purchased from New Egg about 3 months ago, and it's just out of warranty as of a week or so ago. I don't think there's enough battery left to revert the BIOS or reinstall Windows, either.
Please help. I really don't want to be out the money for this thing already.

Update:
The problem seems to have somehow resolved itself. Here's what happened:
1. I plugged the laptop in with my crappy Anker after-market charger. Still no LED activity.
2. I attempted to boot it with an Ubuntu 23.x server USB stick using the working port. That locked up, but not until well after I noticed it loading Linux drivers for the USB controllers, hubs, and devices. I think this is key to what happened next.
3. After the linux boot failed, I powered down again by holding the power button until it shut off, and then I rebooted into Windows, intending to get my stuff off of it in case I had to return it / take it somewhere / wipe it, etc.
4. Windows now won't boot. Says it wants my Bitlocker key. Ugh. So I shut it off again and go to find that.
5. Boot into Windows again, this time with my Bitlocker key ready. It still wants it, so I punch it in and boot up.
6. Now, all of a sudden, as if by some dark magic at work somewhere, the thing is charging again, and all the USB ports on that side are working again - the LED is on and everything.
7. It remains to be seen whether the HP charger will work again, but I am cautiously optimistic.
I don't know what happened - maybe the Linux drivers cleared some glitch out of the hardware that allowed it to come online again in Windows or something, but I seem to have dodged this bullet. For now. So, if anyone is in dire straits with a similar situation, try loading a Linux boot USB drive and see if that helps.
