Hi All,
I've been trying to resolve an internal battery error identified during boot up as "Primary (internal) Battery (601)" on my sons computer.
During troubleshooting I've been unable to run the UEFI Hardware Diagnostics as it doesn't appear to be available as an option:-
I checked the BIOS version in windows system information (mswin32.exe) and it is stated as Insyde F.08, 26/12/2014, however when I compare that to the HP site there doesn't appear to be any corresponding version with that date:-
So I tried to install the latest version using the download and install wizard on the HP site, as well as via a separate USB all to no avail. The update appears to install, I reboot, again it appears to update but nothing changes when I look at the system information or launch the UEFI routine.......
I know these Notebooks got a skinned down version of Window 8 to preserve available memory, is the above a consequence of that, ie limited functionality or should these updates be applied.
Any help gratefully received.

Power up and tap the Esc key to enter the Startup Menu, press F1 for System Information and check which version of the BIOS is currently installed. The screenshot that you posted is the F2 Diagnostic screen and it is showing the version of the diagnostic utility, not the BIOS as you may already know.

Hi GBL84,
Thanks for the response.
Okay following the HP assistant BIOS update I've now got the .F0B version loaded and can access the UEFI system diagnostics.
I had already run the HP assistant battery check which led me to checking the BIOS version:-
The reports from the UEFI system checks are that the battery is not connected, which is weird as it is an internal battery:-
It's the Stream 11 Pro Notebook PC by the way.
So I guess its down to the battery rather than BIOS?
Thanks

Thanks Kyle,
Understood and verified the BIOS version as instructed earlier, confirmed at that time that it was the 2014 version.
Have subsequently managed to update to the 2017 version and it definately looks like a hardware issue.
Once again thanks for the feedback. 🙂
