My HP Pavilion x360 -14-cd0063tx was preinstalled with 128GB M.2 SATA SSD. After I realized that my laptop could be upgraded to Windows 11, I changed and upgraded the SSD to 250GB.
Lately, I purchased the M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe 1TB SSD, and I cloned it with my existing 250 SSD. However, after cloning, I inserted the 1TB M.2 SSD into my laptop, but it unable to boot up at all. I have tried Macrium Reflect, ISun Clonego etc. All the cloning were successfully completed. However, the 1TB M.2 SSD just couldn't boot up.
I would like to enquire whether is it my laptop system motherboard or bios don't support 1TB of SSD or the problems liaise on the cloning part?
Any experts, please kindly assist and advise asap.

Hello ALL,
Finally....I manage to clone my existing internal "M.2 SATA 250 GB SSD (Samsung 860 EVO)" to "M.2 PCLe NVMe 1TB SSD (Samsung 980 PRO) successfully done and so far is working faster and smooth.
As mentioned in my earlier replied, I intended to do a clean installation of the Windows 11 Pro onto the Samsung 1TB SSD. However, before I proceed, the procedures told me that I need to download all the Laptop's Drivers & Software, and also the 3rd party software that I've almost forgotten where I have stored the serial numbers of those software. Until I realized that were stored on an old HDD, which having some problems in accessing it.
While trying to get my previous old HDD data recovered using "Stellar Data Recovery", I managed recover those important files and folders back.
While I googled around again to enquire whether any other ways to utilize my Samsung 980 PRO 1TB SSD....there's no new solution, so I tried to ask "ChatGPT" to give me a better solution, by proving ChatGPT with several of my laptop and newly purchased 1TB SSD details. ChatGPT has provided me 4 solutions, which the best is still using "Samsung Magicians" & "Samsung Data Migration" applications.
So I decided to try the "Samsung Data Migration" application to clone both my Samsung SSD again....Out of my expectation, this time the cloning was successfully DONE, as exactly the same, with more spaces and speed faster. Oh my Genius, I really could not believe it.
And I have performed an entire image backup of the new 1TB SSD and stored it safely.
I hereby strongly recommending of using "Samsung SSD" as this "Samsung Data Migration" software really do a great job. The previous time was not successful was due to I never install the "Samsung Magicians" software to disable the "Rapid Mode" of the old Samsung 250GB SATA SSD. So after following all the instructions, I tried again to clone.
I would like to express my gratefulness to All of you EXPERT guys, whom have given me several information and determination. Beside, also thankful to "ChatGPT".
I can go back to my programming now!

M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe should be backward compatible. I think something is NOT right with the cloning process.

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that both NVMe and SATA SSD's are supported.
What I recommend you do are either of these options to rule out a SSD incompatibility issue:
1. Use the HP cloud recovery tool to reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.

If you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter your PC's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.
Your PC's product number is: 4PC24PA#AB4
2. Clean install W11 on the new SSD by making a bootable USB flash drive with the Media creation tool from the link below (second option).
Download Windows 11 (microsoft.com)
If neither of those options work, there is a problem with the notebook not liking the SSD you installed, and I recommend you go back to using a SATA M.2 SSD having a larger storage capacity if you want.

Hello All,
Initially, my laptop was preloaded with "Windows 10 Home 64Bit Edition", and it installed with 2 Disks: Disk 0 was the 1 TB HDD, and Disk 1 was the M.2 250GB SSD.
My Windows system was installed on Disk 1 (SSD), instead of Disk 0 (HDD).
Under Disk 1 that viewed on the Disk Management, there's 4 partitions, which were:
(Partition 1): "Healthy (EFI System Partition 260MB)",
(Partition 2) "WINDOWS C: Healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Basic Data Partition 208.36GB)",
(Partition 3) "Unallocated 23.29GB",
(Partition 4) "Healthy "Recovery Partition 980MB".
Under Disk 0 (the 1TB HDD) is being used as a Storage or Data Drive D:.
I upgraded the Windows 10 Home Edition to Windows 10 Pro Edition by purchasing the Digital Product Keys of Windows 10 Pro Edition.
After I have signed up as the "Insider", I received the Windows 11 Dev Edition upgraded, and so I tried and everything runs smoothly, I then proceed to upgrade the DDR3 RAM to maximum of 12GB.
As I realized lately that my entire system was getting slower as I believe is due to the installation of several programming software. So I intended to upgrade the SSD to 1TB.
I have checked with the HP support team, and after they verified and checked, they claimed that my laptop model could only support up to 512GB of SSD, regardless of M.2 SATA SSD or M.2 NVMe SSD.
However, since I have purchased the M.2 980 Pro PCLe 4.0 NVMe 1TB SSD, I tried to purchase the enclosure for this 1TB SSD and do the cloning. I used Macrium Reflect to clone the existing M.2 250 SSD to the external M.2 NVMe 1TB SSD. the Cloning seems no errors, until I replaced the system SSD with the M.2 1TB SSD, the system unable to boot up at all.
However, I tried another way, which was I selected the Boot Menu as the External M.2 1TB SSD, and it managed to boot up.
So my doubts are is it really my laptop BIOS/EFUI do not support SSD that above 512GB as what the HP support team mentioned? Or the problems fall on the cloning part?
My laptop system does not come with any Windows 10 Installation Disks, but only the "HP Cloud Recovery Tool" USB.
I have tried using the "HP Cloud Recovery Tool USB" to do a recovery as a new installation on the M.2 NVMe 1TB SSD, but it failed. I am thinking of doing a clean installation of Windows 11 on the M.2 NVMe 1TB SSD, but I need the Windows 11 Product Keys to proceed , which I do not have one.
All Experts, do you think my laptop system really unable to support M.2 SSD that more than 512GB?
If there's the way, is there any way to partition my M.2 1TB SSD to 512GB or lower and try the recovery tool or clean installation again?
Please kindly assist and advise.

Hello All,
As I have read through the "HP Pavilion X360 14m Convertible PC Maintenance & Service Guide", under page 34, it does state that the maximum size for SSD for my laptop is 512GB, regardless of M.2 SATA SSD or M.2 NVMe SSD, which means the "M.2 NVMe 1TB SSD" would not work on my laptop.
However, I tried another ways by installing the latest version of the "Samsung Magicians" & "Samsung Data Migration" software, and I tried cloning my existing internal "M.2 SATA SSD" to external "M.2 NVMe SSD" with an enclosure.
It doesn't seems to be working too, which means my laptop does not support SSD size more than 512GB.
The only solution is using another technique to configure the "M.2 NVMe 1TB SSD" to size 512GB or less, but I don't know is it possible and whether any softwares could do that, by partitioning my "M.2 NVMe 1TB SSD" to 512GB.
Any Experts out there able to assist?
Really appreciated, and look forward to hearing from you ASAP.

Did you try clean installing W11 on the new drive?
Normally, with very few rarities, the drive capacities listed in the service manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.
As you can see from the Crucial memory/SSD report at the link below, they offer NVMe SSD's up to 4 TB for sale that they indicate are compatible with your notebook.
I would think if the maximum capacity was limited to those listed in the service manual, Crucial would not be selling 4 TB drives that would have no chance of working.
Since it does not appear that you have tried clean installing W11, I don't have any other suggestions for you.
I wish you the best of luck in being able to resolve the problem.

Hello All,
Later I will try to do a clean installation of the W11Pro onto the M.2 PCLe4.0 NVMe 1TB SSD, to see whether it works. I believe this is the last resort.
If really unsuccessful, I shall use this 1TB SSD as an external SSD for storage a d backups, is what a waste.
So before I proceed, may I check the clean installation steps? As my current existing 250gb SSD have 4 partitions, which are "EFI" ; "Windows C:" ; "Unallocated Space" & "Recovery".
If I do a clean installation, how could I create the "EFI" partition? The "Recovery partition" is actually the "Macrium Reflect" Recovery partition and I can leave it, most important is the "EFI" & " Windows".
Please kindly assist and advise again asap.
