Unable to use DVD-R and DVD-RW, why?

When trying to burn a DVD minus R or RW disc I get the message "No Disc Loaded".

When using DVD plus R or RW discs everything is OK.

I would imagine the burning software is at fault, because you should have an  Optical drive
NOTE: Optical drive spare part kits include bracket and bezel.
Description Spare part number
