Hello and hi there,
Recently, I got an alerted from the HP Support Assistant Software in my laptop regarding my laptop's battery issue. After running the check test, it states the status of the battery as unknown. Therefore, how should I solve this issue?
Another thing is that I don't know if this related or not, whether it is the battery or any other causes, but my laptop will shut down suddenly without indicating the low battery alert. I have searched it on the forum network, but still, the problem is not solved.
To ease the matter, you can see the screenshots below. If possible, please give me a robust and exhaustive explanation on steps to solve it, because I am not that good in this computer thingy. Thank you.

Peace be unto you!
Welcome to the HP Forums,
I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
As I understand the device shuts down without low battery notification,
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:
Have you attempted to reinstall the battery drivers?
Or checking if there's an error message that appears before or after the device shuts down on its own?
While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:
I have a few steps listed below that should help you resolve this concern:
- Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.
- Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.
- Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,
- Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.
If the issue persists, check with an alternate adapter and if that doesn't work either, it would confirm a hardware malfunction within the charging port and you will need to Contact HP to repair the device, however, if the other adapter works, simply replace the adapter to resolve the issue:

Hello @Riddle_Decipher,
Peace be unto you too!
Thank you so much for your response. Regarding your question:
"Have you attempted to reinstall the battery drivers? Or checking if there's an error message that appears before or after the device shuts down on its own?"
After the error message popped out, I have removed and reinserted it back to my laptop twice. But, since the results are still the same, hence I don't have any idea how to settle down this issue.
Next, referring to your suggestions, actually, my laptop will turn off abruptly even though there is still around 30%+ battery left. Therefore, should I proceed with your suggestion?
Again, many thanks for your help. Have a good day.

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
Please attempt the steps as suggested as it should resolve any battery driver issues,
However, if the issue persists, you could attempt manually calibrating the battery:
Manually calibrating the battery requires four steps: fully charge the battery, discharge or drain the battery, recharge the battery, then run the battery test. Calibrating the battery improves the accuracy of the battery gauge software so that it more accurately displays the current level of charge.
NOTE:
When possible, use HP PC Diagnostics UEFI (described above) to test the battery and get calibration instructions. The following instructions are for a manual method and work with most battery types.
Step 1: Charge the battery
-
Plug in the power cord.
-
Charge the battery to a full charge.
-
When the battery is fully charged, proceed to the next step.

(By the end of this article all the issues should be resolved)
Also, check with an alternate power adapter, if the device remains on without the intermittent shutdown issues, if it continues with the alternate adapter as well: Click here for advanced troubleshooting.
If none of the above works, Please Contact HP to have the device either repaired or its parts replaced to resolve the issue as it could be a hardware malfunction:
