HP Pavilion - 15-cw1038au
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi guys/girls, I have just updated my laptop to Windows 10 Pro instead of the home edition supplied by HP, I'm wondering if this motherboard's are capped at 8 GB ram. I have noticed that the System and security window of the laptop it's not getting all 8 GB memory and it's capped at usable 5.9 GB, how to I unlock all the memory and can I add additional ram to this model  HP Pavilion - 15-cw1038au. If I can is there a BIO's update that can be run to unlock all memory available, or does this have to be completed in the BIO's of the laptop? If I can achieve this can someone let me know how to perform this I already know how to open the laptop to access the motherboard as I do basic repairs on laptops like ram changes and copying HD's etc.

Any help will be helpful

Thanks.

Hi:

HP released this document a while back, which explains the memory shortage...

This seems to only apply to models with AMD Ryzen processors and chipsets.

Info on Microsoft PlayReady.

You can try updating the BIOS to the latest version if you have not done so already.
