HP Pavilion g6-2219sa Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After reaching out to Microsoft for support on the recent updates not installing, it was noted my BIOS needed updating.

I have spent the last 2 hours trying to reach out to HP for support without getting anywhere and hope this platform may help.

My current BIOS is: Insyde F.14.   18/09/2012

Can someone please provide me with an updated version and how to install it?

Many thanks in advance.

Hi:

Below is the link to the last BIOS update HP released for your notebook.

F.2A   Sep 19, 2016

But there is a problem...the BIOS update was written to be run on Windows 8, and you posted that you are running W10.

Running a BIOS update in an unsupported operating system is risky.

It may work fine, or it may permanently destroy your notebook.  Nothing in between.  No do overs.

So, you will have to decide for yourself if you want to take that kind of a risk.  It's a 50-50 outcome.

Since your notebook was never supported by HP for W10, updating the BIOS may not solve the problem you are having.

Thanks Paul. That's a very sobering conclusion. Much appreciate your advice and recommendations.

Don't suppose anyone has an experience of updating the BIOS after upgrading to Win 10?

The notebook was upgraded to Win10 many years ago and has performed well. It's just the last 2 updates that are causing a problem.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I don't know of anyone who has updated the BIOS when running W10 on the g6-22xx model series.

Have you considered trying to clean install the latest version of W10 22H2) by making a bootable USB installation flash installer with the media creation tool?

Download Windows 10 (microsoft.com)

The only downside to that is if the installation fails, and you don't have a system image of the current drive stored on a portable hard drive you can go back to, that would be a problem.

You'd have to reinstall W8.1 and try upgrading back to W10.

I wish I knew if the BIOS update worked on W8.1 but the link I posted indicates W8 only.

You are in quite a predicament.  What to do...what to do...
