Hello community, I have a Compaq Presario CQ56-160SP, and i would like get the maximum performance.

I'm thinking about putting in:

-Intel T9600 processor, I don't know if the T9900 is possible?

-RAM DDR2 2xGo 8GB 800MHz SODIMM 6400 RAM 200Pin 1.8V?

-1 or 2T SSD, what do you think? Give me suggestions, is there any more components needed? Thank you for your responses.

Hi:

What chipset does your notebook have?

If you don't know run the free utility that I zipped up and attached below.

If it has the GL-40 the best processor you can install would be the T9500.

Intel Core2 Duo Processor T9500 6M Cache 2.60 GHz 800 MHz FSB Product Specifications

The service manual indicates the chipset is the GL-40.

The GL-40 chipset will only support a maximum of 2 x 2 GB of DDR2-6400 (800 MHz) memory.

Intel 82GL40 Graphics and Memory Controller Hub Product Specifications

8 GB of memory would only be supported in the notebooks with the Intel GM or PM45 chipset.

I'd probably stick with a 1 TB SATA SSD but that's up to you.

There's nothing else that you can upgrade.

The model series has a BIOS whitelist which would block the installation of any other model Wi-Fi card from working other than the one that came with your notebook.

Thanks for the answer. Here is the photo. So… see the characteristics of my PC, I cannot fit 2x 4GB?

You're very welcome.

Since your notebook does have the Intel GL40 chipset, 2 x 4 GB of memory will absolutely not work.

what do you do? Does it pay off? Thanks again

What model processor does your notebook currently have installed?

Since HP has retired support for the model series there are no specifications available online anymore.

That is very expensive.

This 4 GB kit is only $13.99 Euros.

I think the processor upgrade for only 22.14 Euros would be worth it.
