Looking at getting this laptop...
HP Pavilion 15 Touchscreen Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5
Model #15-cw0064cl from Costco
It shows that is only has a 1TB Hard Drive..
I would like to upgrade/add to this a M.2 SSD
Is there a service manual for this model OR is the HP Pavilion Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide the correct one in relation to how to install: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06011408
Is there an identical model on the HP site somewhere (I know that Costco models can have differnt model numbers than the HP store ones..)
I would like to find the Online User Manuals and such for this Laptop before deciding to purchase..
Would any standard SATA M.2 SSD be compatiable (IE Samsung 860 EVO M.2)
Does it require the whole back panel to be removed to install the SSD? (looks like you have to pull 2 of the feet to access 3 of the screws)
and lastly would installing the M.2 SSD myself (being a PC Tech - but not an HP Authorized service center) Void the warranty ( given the Law about Warranty Void if Removed news and such ) Is there some other reason that would Void the Warranty if done myself?
If that was the case I would not get this laptop and the main reason I am asking.. Unfortuatly they (costco) do not have a HP Ryzen 5 laptop with an SSD, which would be my ideal choice.

Hi,
Yes, the service manual you linked to is the correct service manual. There is no support page for the specific product (yet?). However there is for the series:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-15-cw0000-laptop-pc/20284015/manuals
You will need to remove the bottom cover as described on page 46 of service manual. You can peel back the rubber feet without totally removing them and get to the screws and then just press them back into place again. If necessary you can use some strong double sided tape to fix them down again, but usually it is not necessary.
The M2 slot supports both M2 SATA3 drive such as the Samsung 860evo or PCIe drive such as the Samsung 960evo, the latter being much faster. You can use higher capacity than mentioned in the service manual. Naturally you will need to install the OS on the SSD using HP recovery disks, migtrating an image or by downloading media creation tool from Microsoft, running and creating a bootable pendrive with Windows 10 on it.
Hope it helps,
David

Hello @Dark24,
The HP Pavilion - 15-cw0064cl can take an M.2 SATA SSD or a PCIe NVMe SSD. Steps to replacement are located on page 46 of your computer's Maintenance and Service Guide.
You can purchase the options listed in the manual but the problem is that this laptop is so new that the SSD options are currently unavailable. The part numbers seem unique. Instead, you can purchase something like the Samsung PM961.

Eddy
