I'm having the same issue. When I do reset it messes up bitlocker encryption and I end up decrypting and reencrypting. This happened at least twice - come on HP what can I do? 🙂

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Forums.
I came across your post and would like to assist.
I understand that when you try to update the security processor (TPM) firmware, it messes up bitlocker encryption and you end up decrypting and re-encrypting.
To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this:
- What is the exact computer model number.
- What version of Windows are you using?
- Did you receive any message n your computer to update the TPM firmware?
Please feel free to reply. This information will help me to assist you further.
Secondly, during my research, I came across this document from Microsoft: BitLocker mitigation plan for vulnerability in TPM - Microsoft Support
This document talks about how to remedy the vulnerability impact in BitLocker
Cheers! 🙂

I found (on the webpage for my model of laptop) a link to the ME fix which I ran.
I had to do a full decrypt and encrypt again (arrggghh) but everything is working as it should and the TPM settings show it being installed this time. I'm hoping this doesn't happen again and I don't get the dreaded yellow triangle in defender.
