Hi @Kaylees1-lapto_,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP laptop may have encountered a boot failure after a Windows update, which can happen if the update didn’t install correctly or caused a system conflict. Here’s what you can do:
First, Try a Hard Reset
- Disconnect the charger and all peripherals (USB drives, etc.).
- Press and hold the power button for 15–20 seconds.
- Reconnect the charger and try turning it on.
If It Still Won’t Power On
- Check for LED or Blink Codes
Look for any lights on the power button, Caps Lock, or keyboard. If they blink in a pattern, note it down; it indicates a hardware error. - Try BIOS Recovery
- Turn off the laptop.
- Hold Windows + B (or Windows + V) and press the power button for 2–3 seconds.
- Release the power button, but keep holding the keys until you see the BIOS recovery screen.
If It Powers On but Shows a Black Screen
- Connect to an external monitor to rule out display issues.
- If you see the HP logo, press Esc repeatedly to access the Startup Menu, then run System Diagnostics.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
