Hi,.
I have four updates trying to download. They have each previously failed and update now seems to be stuck and my sound has been disabled. Checked for virus and all seems clean.
I am on Windows 10 22H2

If you have version 22H2, you have Windows 11 installed.
I suggest going to Settings--> Windows update and removing the previous update.
After you have done that I recommend pausing windows update for a week or more, so the same thing does not happen. That is, unfortunately, the way things work with Windows Update.
You may have to reinstall your sound driver software. I provided a hyperlink to the driver portal below.

Hi erico,
Thanks for getting back to me. It is definitely Windows 10 22H2 that I have installed, I've just double checked. I have tried the drivers update tool already and it doesn't work, I think it's part of the problem I am having.
Thans anyway.

There are myriad reasons that Windows update will not work.
Here is an abbreviated list. You will be busy trying to find out which one is going to resolve the one that causes your update fail. Sometimes it is a driver or a chipset issues as well.
"
- Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter tool.
- Restart Windows Update related services.
- Reset Windows Components to solve the problem.
- Run the System File Checker (SFC) scan.
- Execute the DISM command.
- Temporarily disable your antivirus.
- Restore Windows 10 from a backup.
"
Check in the Microsoft Community forum.
If I were you, I would start with the system file checker utility and then the DISM repair. Those utilities will discover if there are parts of Windows are broken or missing. I do not know how advanced your knowledge of Windows OS repair is. For some people those utilities may be a bit on the exotic side. Having backups available form when the OS worked as it should can be worth their weight in gold, so to speak.
