Although I did find an achieved thread, there was a little confusion on my end. The author made mention of a *.bin file. I noticed several .CAB files and several other files, but nothing with a .bin. So I am going to assume that that information is outdated or at least in regards to my machine. If there a newer guide to upgrading my laptop under Ubuntu.
UPDATE: I decided I would take a look at what was inside the *.CAB files, and lo and behold, there was the *.bin file. Of course, it becomes some what problematic because there are two *.CAB files, and they both have the same names for the files. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Hi:
What BIOS family does your PC have?
TITLE: HP Notebook System BIOS Update
VERSION: F.74
DESCRIPTION:
This package creates files that contain an image of the System BIOS (ROM) for the supported notebook models with a 68ICE and 68ICF Family ROM.
The BIOS family should show up in your notebook's BIOS' system information window.
The one cab file is used for the 681CE family and the other for the 681CF family, and they are labeled accordingly.
I have no idea how to update the BIOS not doing it in Windows or DOS.
They usually have a DOS based option and I don't see that, so I hope it works out for you.
