Microsoft Windows 11

After upgrading to Windows 11, my HP Specter restarts when it should sleep. It even restarts after it is powered off. I have gone through three Microsoft Windows experts, and they have believe I need to update my HP drivers for Windows 11. Yet on the HP website, I can only update for Windows 10. How can I update the drivers for Windows 11 and get back to a computer that sleeps and shuts down properly, instead of restarting all the time? Thank you for any advice.

Hi:

Since HP hasn't released any W11 drivers for your notebook (and probably never will), the only suggestion I can offer would be to try the W11 Intel chipset installation utility and Intel Management Engine Interface drivers from a similarly equipped HP business-class notebook which HP has released W11 drivers for.

Intel Chipset Installation Utility

10.1.18243.8188

Intel Management Engine Driver

2238.3.31.0

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp143001-143500/sp143155.exe

Restart the PC after installing the drivers.

Hi, Tried installing both drivers and restarting the computer, twice, but problem persists. Computer will neither sleep nor shut down, it only restarts. When installing the second driver, got the message if I wanted to Remove the installation or Repair it. Clicked on Repair both times.

Thanks for trying with this problem. Should I try any other solution, including returning to Windows 10? I don't think the computer will go long with these constant restarts.

Sorry that didn't work for you.

The Intel Management Engine Interface is part of the software that controls functions such as sleep and restarting.

Yes, since that didn't work and probably more knowledgeable folks than me have tried to help you with negative results, I recommend you go back to W10.

You definitely don't want the PC to keep restarting, not to mention it isn't normal.

If it has been more than 10 days since you have installed W11, you can't go back to W10 unless you clean install it.

You can also check to see if your notebook is supported by the HP cloud recovery tool which you can use to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will factory reset the drive to its 'out of the box' condition.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this.
