I’m currently searching for a CPU upgrade for my notebook, but I’m unable to locate a compatibility list that specifies which CPUs will work with my chipset and BIOS.

i5-2450m Sandy Bridge

Manufacturer Part Number - A6Y00UA#ABA.

Socket 988b rPGA. Motherboard - 11a39-2.

BIOS Type Insyde UEFI.

BIOS Version F.1C.

SMBIOS Version 2.7.

North Bridge Properties.

North Bridge Intel Sandy Bridge-MB IMC.

Chapter 1 of the maintenance and service guide has the list of supported Intel processors for your notebook.

 

HP Pavilion dv6-6c14nr Entertainment Notebook PC - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support

 

Because different system boards are used for the notebooks that come with the quad core processors (see chapter 3), the best dual core processor you can upgrade to would be the Intel Core i7-2640M.
