I’m currently searching for a CPU upgrade for my notebook, but I’m unable to locate a compatibility list that specifies which CPUs will work with my chipset and BIOS.

Chapter 1 of the maintenance and service guide has the list of supported Intel processors for your notebook.

Because different system boards are used for the notebooks that come with the quad core processors (see chapter 3), the best dual core processor you can upgrade to would be the Intel Core i7-2640M.
