HP Notebook 15-bw061nf
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello to all;

I am tying to move from a HDD system disk to a SSD disk. I cloned the disk using  Acronis True image for Crucial SSD.

But I cannot boot my  notebook with this new disk.

Is there some thing specific to be done to be able to boot the notebook?

Some thing like a change to be done in the BIOS, or similar.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have a nice day.

@Jeff1494

I do my disk cloning with Macrium Reflect -- because I found Acronis to be unreliable.  Macriium has a feature, when you do the cloning, to automatically select all the partitions needed to make a bootable disk.  I do not know if Acronis has the same feature.

You have to clone more than the OS partition; you have to clone the boot partition as well -- referred to as the System Reserved or ESP partition, depending on the disk formatting that was used.

@WAWood

First of all thank you for your reply.

I tried to clone my HDD to SSD using Macrium and the clone operation has been canceled due to a problem during File system checking operation.

So I suspect that my original disk has a problem.

I tried to use EaseUS Backup Home edition that give an option to clone the system disk.

But unfortunately the result is the same.

At the boot time I just have a black screen and nothing happens. Just a reboot try again and again.

So if I cannot fix the problem, I'll try to install W10 from an image, and see what will be the result.

Hello,

To continue with my problem.

I cloned the system disk, and when I try to restart my PC with the new SSD disk, I encounter a problem in the Boot Loader from Windows that keeps the reference to the HDD disk.

I do not know how to bypass this.

If somebody has a solution, it will be very much appreciate.

Thanks in advance.

Have a nice day.
