HP Notebook - 14-dq0001dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Notebook 14-dq0001-dx 4GB RAM and a eMMC configuration, version 5.0 64 GB hard drive. Is it possible to upgrade with 8GB additional RAM and larger hard drive?

Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 14 Laptop PC

Chapter 1 has the memory upgrade info.

Notebooks with the Celeron processors have one memory slot and the max memory is 1 x 8 GB.

That means you would have to remove the 4 GB memory chip and install an 8 GB memory chip.

The 64 GB eMMC SSD cannot be upgraded and I believe that if your notebook has a M.2 slot, the slot is deactivated when an eMMC drive is installed.

I'm running W11 Pro on a HP Stream 11 Pro G4 with an Intel Celeron N3450, 4 GB of memory and a 64 GB eMMC drive and it works great.

I can't upgrade the memory because it is soldered to the motherboard.

I've attempted the W11 install and it  indicates not compatible. Possibly my N4020 or other components are incompatible. Thanks!

You're very welcome.

The processor is supported because it is on Microsoft's list of supported W11 processors.

Mine was not.

So, the only thing I can think of as to why your notebook did not meet the W11 hardware requirements is it may not have a TPM 2.0 security device.

Go to the device manager and see if there is a security devices category in the device manager.

If there is, there should be a TPM 2.0 device listed there.

If there isn't, then go into the BIOS and see if there is a setting to enable the TPM security device as it may be disabled by default.

Since my Stream notebook is a business-class notebook, it came with a TPM 2.0 security device.

I used the method at the link below to bypass the W11 hardware checks so I could upgrade to W11, since the processor did not meet the requirements.
