I have a question. I would like to upgrade my HP 255 g6 e2-9000e. I am genuinely interested in whether I can install 8GB of RAM, and you can also write other upgrade options for those who are interested. I'm not much of an expert, so I don't know which motherboard I have and how to see compatibility.

Thank you, I wish you all the best.

Your machine is ONE of few HP G6 machines

         https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c05478271#AbT1

Manual of the series:

        http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06231185.pdf

Its specs clearly says

  • DDDR4-1866 (transfer rates up to 2133 MT/s)
  • DDR4-2400 downgraded to DDR4-1866
  • Single channel support
  • Not customer accessible/upgradeable

But I believe you can upgrade to 8GB using   https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/ct8g4sfs824a/ct10648036

You can BUY other new system board with better processor using PART # on page 61 of the manual but this would be close to buying new machine.

From my view, it is a low end machine, saving more money to buy a better machine would be cheaper at the end.

Regards.
