Hello everyone,
I’m considering upgrading my HP BS1xx laptop with a new SSD and I’ve been looking at the WD Blue SN580 1TB NVMe PCIe Internal Solid State Drive. Before I make the purchase, I wanted to reach out to the community to get some advice.
- Has anyone here successfully upgraded their HP BS1xx laptop with the WD Blue SN580 1TB SSD?
- Were there any compatibility issues or challenges with installation?
- If you’ve done this upgrade, did you notice a significant performance improvement (boot time, app load time, etc.)?
- Are there any specific settings I should be aware of, such as BIOS adjustments or software to install for optimizing the NVMe drive?
Any advice or experiences with this specific SSD or similar upgrades would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi:
Only the notebooks with Intel Core processors have M.2 SSD slots.
The model series only supports M.2 SATA SSD's so any brand or model NVMe SSD will not work.
Below is the link to the service manual. Chapter 1 has the supported drive types:

You're very welcome.
No, the M.2 slot in all models in the series only supports M.2 SATA SSD's.
Many folks have made the mistake of buying a NVMe SSD before coming here and 100% of the NVMe SSD's they installed failed to work.
You need a drive like this if you want to go the M.2 route:

I suppose you can use it for additional storage in an external enclosure plugged into one of your notebook's USB 3 ports.
Something like this:

I see there are two gaps(slots) at the end chip in the SATA SSD you suggested but when I open my laptop m.2 slot has only one gap attachment slot, do you have any opinion on that? an will it work to have both HDD and SSD at the same time in a laptop or do I have to remove HDD?

Yes, every HP M 2 slot I have seen in any notebook or desktop PC has one key in the slot.
That doesn't prevent a M 2 SATA SSD with two notches from fitting and working in the slot.
That's why it's important to read the service manual to see what drives are supported in the M.2 slot.
Some support NVMe SSDs only, some support SATA SSDs only, and some support both types.
According to the manual, dual storage configurations are supported, but you would have remove Windows from the 2 5" drive, or it will always want to boot from the hard drive and not the SSD.
