Hi,
I wanted to know if I can upgrade HP Pavilion 15g-BR104TX from SATA to SSD. I did read some of the articles mentioned in the link below but could not find an accurate answer.
Is there something i need to consider before upgrade? Compatibility, etc.?
Thanks!
Anand

That is because each different notebook has an SSD type compatibility issues. There is no one size or type of SSD that is compatible with all notebooks.
Your notebook has an M.2 slot.
It is compatible with M.2 SATA3(TLC) SSD 2280
You could also clone the legacy SATA hard disk to a 2.5" SATA (TLC) SSD.
The recovery flash drive can be used with an SSD as long as it is more than 160GB in capacity.
I do not recommend using one with less than 256 GB capacity.
Another option is to install the compatible M.2 SSD and use the legacy hard disk as storage.
For guaranteed compatibility with your notebook, take a look at Crucial memory company's offerings at the link below.

Your notebook is not compatible with NVMe SSD products!!
Compatibility is only with the SSD types with memory controllers listed in my previous post and at the Crucial Memory link I provided. Only install guaranteed compatible SSD products. That will save you from frustration, wasted time and money wasted.

Hi,
I downloaded the service manual and also have gone through the details in your post.
I have the following question.
The service manual and the crucial site lists M.2 SSD with a different pinout than the connector present on the motherboard of HP 15g-br104tx. The ones listed in the site and the manual, have a 4-19-5 pinout, whereas the female connector on the board has 5-28 pinout.
I am confused what kind of ssd to order for my 15g-br104tx.
Please help.
Regards,
Rinjo
