HP Pavilion dm4 1150ss
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I have an HP Pavilion dm4 1150ss. I want to upgrade the wireless mini pci-e card to one faster (AC) with Bluetooth included that won't be in the blacklist. Someone can help me?

Thank in advance,

Víctor

The problem is you have to use a wifi card that was in existence when the laptop was made and 802.11ac was not invented then so any ac card will be blocked by the whitelist. Compatible wireless cards are listed on pp. 20-23 of the Manual here:

Manual

In you case the best, not perfect solution is a usb wireless dongle.

Thank you Huffer.

Unfortunately HP doesn't solve this problem using bios upgrade. It can be and easy way to give a longer life to old computers.

Thank you again.

Best regards,

Víctor

They have never issued a BIOS which removes the whitelist on a computer that originally had a whitelist. It was a huge issue maybe 5 years ago but is now just a historical memory. They did away with the whitelist quite some time ago.
