I have an older HP split product # G6Q88UA, I3 processor, 4g ram. I want to upgrade the followiing:

Hard drive; want to upgrade to SSD. what type do I need, do I need an adapter for connection? looking for 250-500gb
Wireless adapter: what type do I need? want to upgrade to dual band so I can use 5ghz.
Thank you in advance!!

Here is the Service Manual:
Now for the less than wonderful news. The memory is not upgradeable. It is soldered to the motherboard. The hard drives are a special ultraslim hybrid type with a nonstandard connector so simply upgrading to a standard 2.5 inch SATA SSD is not going to work. The wireless card could be upgraded. It a standard NGFF (M.2) wifi card and appears to have 2 antennae. Which wifi card do you have now?

wireless Lan 2: Broadcam BCM43142 802.11 bgn wi-fi m.2 adapter. In windows 10 setting under properties for network, Network Band is 2.4 ghz. I have an Orbi router that broadcasts dual channel; 2.4 and 5 ghz. I would like the HP split to use 5ghz
hard drive: is there an adapter I can use to install an msata or m2.sata ssd? If not, what type of ssd hard drive can I install?
Is it possible to install a new motherboard and do a total rebuild? New ram, hd, cpu, etc.
I use the HP split mostly for internet access, not streaming or playing games. Use microsoft products, excel, word, etc. nothing too taxing. Do you think it is worth the minimal upgrade to wifi card and hd?
Thanks for the reply and help!

No adapter for the hard drive. You have to use one of the two drives that were designed for it. They are hybrid drives with an SSD cache not as fast as a true SSD. Theoretically you can get a replacement and upgraded motherboard. But people who ask about doing this kind of project generally do not understand how expensive replacement parts are. Almost nobody who thinks "oh I will just totally upgrade my 5 year old laptop" actually goes through with it once the facts sink in. Upgrading to a 5ghz wifi card is very possible and pretty cheap.
I can find just about any parts for anything so if you really want to do this let me know.
