So, if my original SATA hard drive failed and I'm installing a new M.2 SSD, should I remove the old hard drive, or is there a reason to leave it be?

If I was installing a NVMe SSD, I would remove the hard drive and buy a NVMe SSD that met my storage needs.

Unless you really need the 2.5" drive for storage, all that is going to do is generate more heat and drain the battery faster between charges.

Great.  Thanks.  Just wasn't sure if the computer needed something in that slot or not.  Trying to make sure I know what I'm doing before I screw anything up.  You guys have been a big help.  Much appreciated.

Anytime.

Glad to have been of assistance.
