Dear HP Support Team, I am Aaryan and I would like to know the upgrade options for my HP Notebook 15-da1005ne. Does the M.2 slot support NVMe SSDs (and which generation) or only SATA SSDs (and which generation)? Also, what is the maximum RAM supported and its specifications (DDR4, speed, etc.)? Please provide guidance on compatible storage and memory upgrades to enhance my laptop’s performance.

Hi, Aaryan:
Your notebook has a M.2 slot that supports NVMe SSD's.
The slot generation is 3.0, but a gen 4.0 SSD will work fine but will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from the gen 3 slot.
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates the PC will support up to 2 x 8 GB of memory but you should be able to install 2 x 16 GB of memory if you want to.
HP 15 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide
You can run this command to see that your notebook can support 16 GB of memory:
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.
This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the enter key.
There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
Your notebook's processor can only run the memory at a maximum speed of 2400 MHz.
You can install the following specification memory chips:
DDR4-2400 CL17, DDR4-2666 CL19 or DDR4-3200 CL22.
The memory will all run at 2400 MHz.
Since you live in Nepal I would have no idea what options you have for purchasing memory or SSDs.
See if you can get Crucial memory and Crucial SSD's in your country.
