Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Is there any performance impact with upgrading one of the memory modules to 4GB and leaving the other at 2GB? If not is there any slot prefences for 4GB module? These are DDR2 memory modules and the processor is the AMD Turion II M520.

Hi:

When you don't install memory in matched pairs (2x1, 2x2, 2x4, etc), the memory only runs in SDR (single data rate) mode.

I really don't know what would be better...2 x 2 GB running in DDR mode, or 6 GB running in SDR mode.

Give it a try.

Installing 4 + 2 GB won't wreck your PC, or the memory.

It'll either run better or worse than it is now.
