Upgrade Memory on an HP Pavilion 15-eg3016na

Nominally the Pavilion 15-eg3016na purchased new in September 2023 supports upto16GB of memory using 2 x 8GB modules.

Can anyone tell me whether I can upgrade to 32GB using 2 x 16GB modules?

If so, what type of modules should I buy?

Probably you can.

Run this command to see what Windows reports:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

This should be a compatible 16 GB memory chip for your notebook:

Amazon has it for much less:

Unfortunately, the wmic command shows that that max for my laptop is 16GB.

But, thanks for your response - it has saved me from buying memory I could not use.
