HP Notebook - 15-dw0081wm

Where can I purchase a motherboard and 2gig + processor for my HP Notebook 15-dw0xxx? I received this as a gift, but it's only a 1.0gig processor and it makes this thing run like it's on Windows 3.x back in the 80's.

Your notebook has a Pentium processor and it is integrated (soldered) into the systemboard.

It is not a socketed (upgradeable) type.

That is why I'm trying to find a motherboard with 2 gig or more processor that will fit into this model notebook.

The unfortunate thing is that your notebook is what is called an essential series and that is HP 15-dw0000 through 15-dw4000.

There is a 15-dw000 CTO (configure to order) that can be delivered with Intel Core i3, i5 and i7. They have more features and accept more installed memory than yours does.

I had to use the HP Product Content Browser to research the complete notebook series.

The HP Product Content Browser at the hyperlink below is where I researched it.
https://pcb.inc.hp.com/webapp/#!/us-en/contents/34443656?type=M&hierarchy=F&status=L&status=O

The issue with that is making sure that a different system board will fit without the Maintenance & Service guide.

I used the product  number (SKU) to see if the HP PartSurfer would tell me. See the example at the hyperlink below.

It does not and the missing link is the Maintenance & Service guide for the series.

If I were you, I would not risk my money by purchasing a system board that may not even fit or work in your laptop enclosure.

That is simply because the laptops that are on a higher tier than essential also use different displays and also may have keyboards with more features.

I asked that in the Inner Circle forum that HP Experts, such as myself and others, have access to.

That forum section is invisible to a non-Expert Community forum  member.

The Inner Circle access allows us to ask specific questions  between each other and HP emplyees who are Subject Matter Experts ( laptops/PC/printers and more) about odd things we encounter.

I authored a thread about the missing manual(s)  in the Inner Circle section about thirty minutes ago.

I don't expect to get an answer until after the holiday season.
Sorry for the short story it took to explain the issue with your seemingly simple request that was not simple.

I did get a reply from an HP Expert colleague. He provided me with a link to the applicable Maintenance & Service guide for the model series.

@JeffR35us   Update!

In the interests of not wasting $$, I would only try the Core i3,i5 and i7  systemboard upgrade if I could find a used, but known working system board with the Core processor I wanted.

I would go the eBay route to source the system board.

Nice thing about eBay these days is  that eBay guarantees the purchase so you don't have to worry, as we did in the past, about getting ripped off by an unscrupulous seller.

The xx in the last part of the systemboard HP part number relates to the country keyboard.

Use the keyboard code for your notebook so you won't inadvertently end up with a QWERTZ or Cyrillic language keyboard.
