HP Elitebook 8530w (FY595AW#AKR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I want to upgrade a processor of my HP Elitebook (Don't tell me that it's not worth it - I well know that - this is more a hobby thing )

Anyway, I check few pages and few other builds to find out, that best CPU that was placed to this machine is Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300

I'm currently working with Intel core 2 duo T9400

I allready found few pages that offer this CPU but then I came across some forum, where I found out information, that HP EliteBooks 8530 was supposed to have 3 types of motherboards (Each type supports different CPU type)

So now I'm worried if is that true, and if my HP will really support Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300

So basically I'm asking - will HP Elitebook 8530w (Product number: FY595AW#AKR) support use of Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9300 ?

(+ Bonus question  Is there eaven better CPU that is supported by my machine?)

Thanks a lot for answer and have a nice day sir! 🙂

There is a specific motherboard for the Core 2 Extreme motherboards so if yours has a Core 2 Duo it does not have that motherboard and a Core 2 Extreme will not work. The Core 2 Duo T9900 is your "highest and best" upgrade and you should not minimize how much of an upgrade that would be. The T9900 is a beast and would be roughly 22% faster than what you have. Unless you are running specific apps that need more than 2 cores the T9900 is going to perform right up there with the Core 2 Extremes. The high clock speed means it performs well on all kinds of tasks.

The T9900 goes for about 50 bucks on eBay give or take.
