Hello, the user manual that is provided in HP Support Assistant says the RAM is soldered but I have seen posts from people upgrading this model. It looks from other posts that this user manual is not the correct one for this model.
So my question is, what RAM does it support? I want to upgrade to 32GB which I have confirmed in CMD , so I need 2 x 16GB.
I can't seem to find the CL range for the motherboard. I have read that matching CL is important with laptops in particular.
My current spec is 2 x 8GB Samsung M471A1K43EB1-CWE DDR4-3200. Unfortunately, I cannot get the same Samsung 16GB RAM (M471A2K43EB1-CWE) here, or I would just upgrade to that.
Thanks
John

Hi, John:
If your notebook has a Ryzen 5xxx series processor, it can support 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 MHz memory.
The memory is not soldered to the motherboard.
The service manual indicates the memory is not customer accessible/upgradable which only means that HP wants memory upgrades to be performed by an authorized service center.
HP has a policy of not updating the service manuals in consumer class notebooks as newer models in the series are released to market, so the only service manual available is for the original 15-eq0xxx model series with the Ryzen 3xxx series processors.
Chapter 5 has the memory removal and replacement procedure.
I normally recommend the memory Crucial indicates is compatible with your notebook's model series:
Crucial 16GB DDR4-3200 SODIMM | CT16G4SFRA32A | Crucial.com
If you can't buy this memory in Thailand, you need DDR4-3200 CL22 memory.
Don't use performance memory with faster timings.

Thanks for the confirmation re RAM Access. Mine is a Ryzen 7 5500U.
The Crucial site is what had me confused. It was showing CL17, 19 and 22 as compatible with my model but my current RAM is CL22. Anyway, I have a few options CL22 in the budget range anyway.

You're very welcome.
Standard DDR-4-3200 memory has a timing speed of CL22.
If the processor supports running the memory at the full 3200 MHz, which it does in your PC the CL speed remains at 22.
If it is an older processor, it may run the DDR4-3200 memory at CL17 for 2400 MHz or CL19 for 2666 MHz depending on the model of the processor.
