Hi there,
I am in Australia and own a HP 14s-fq0000 Laptop PC (9VQ92AV) with AMD 3020e with Radeon Graphics 1.20 GHz, and 4GB RAM.
I use it for uni work, but find it struggles with having multiple programs and searches and word processing going on at the same time.
I found here http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06642370.pdf in the service and maintainence guide that it has "Two SODIMM slots, not customer accessible or upgradeable supporting up to 16 GB of RAM".
I dont understand what this means? Can it be upgraded to 16 GB of RAM, or can it not? Or does it mean that it can, but a professional needs to do it?
Being a uni student I would love to save myself some money and do it myself, but not at the risk of ruining my computer that I use to do my uni work!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thankyou.

Hi:
The service manual is incorrect.
The 14s-fq0000 notebooks with the AMD 3020e processors have one memory slot and the according to the manual, the slot supports 1 x 8 GB of memory.
You will have to remove the 4 GB memory chip and install an 8 GB memory chip in order to upgrade the memory.
The 'not customer accessible or upgradeable' statement means HP wants any work to be done by an authorized service center.
If you read further through the manual, in Chapter 5 on page 33, you will find the procedure to remove and replace the memory.
